The £250 trade counter: a complete tablet POS kit list
POS hardware vendors would love you to lease a £2,000 terminal. A wholesale trade counter needs none of it.
The kit
A mid-range Android tablet or entry iPad (£130–£180). A wired USB HID barcode scanner (£25–£40) — with a USB-C adapter if needed. A tablet stand (£20). That is the lot, because the software runs in the browser and the heavy lifting happens in the cloud against Linnworks.
What you deliberately skip
Cash drawer integration (take cash rarely? a locked drawer and a manual note beats an integration project). Receipt printer (email the confirmation PDF — trade customers prefer it for their records anyway). Dedicated POS OS (a browser tab is the app).
Why browser-based matters
Nothing to install means nothing to update, corrupt or migrate. The tablet dies? Any other device with a browser is the counter again in ninety seconds.
Trade Order POS is built browser-first for exactly this setup — tablet at the counter, orders straight into Linnworks.
